A new life

Well the last few months were tough for me. I wanted some change. All through this , i got a lot of help from my family, friends. There are some who stood by me and have always been a strong support. When we were younger , we were taught in school a friend in need is a friend indeed. Its so often we use and never realize the true value of it until we feel it. What i realize in those years is that my oft repeated sentence , fight till the end. I always thought i was different, not sure. Well i think if anyone thinks he is different or special , its better to be normal.Life was pretty tough for me initially or lets say i made it tough for myself. When i look back , there were few choice i made which have not gone well.

This is about to change. I am currently in the country of dreams - The United states of America. Frankly i never ever thought that i will get a chance to come here and work for some company. Its time for a change. It is said that a person rarely changes in terms of his qualities , i am gonna give it a try. I am going to change myself .Ever wondered how it is like to feel everything we do. The most important change will be to enjoy every small moment. There are so many of us who work so hard throughout our lives for that happiness which keeps on eluding us.The interesting point is how long can we keep on going , till the moment we breath our last. Sometimes wonder what happens to the creative people. They need so much of a space of their own and it must be difficult for their close acquaintances to be with them always thick and thin. I was a great fan of Michael Jordan and an avid NBA watcher. There used to be an advertisement of Nike shoes and there was a tag line - "Just believe in yourself".

Some of the activities i am likely to accomplish in this new phase -

  • Relax - Not thinking too much.
  • Get fitter
  • Learn cooking - hopefully others can eat at their own risk.
  • Drawing - well the weakest and the hardest task to accomplish
  • Blog - Update my blog at least a month

We need to fight till the end...

Back in school days, we had a chapter related to cricket. I can vaguely remember an important line from that chapter. "A game is never lost till the last ball is bowled". I was small then and could not understand the greater logic behind the sentence.Ok fine i related it to cricket as i had seen Michael Bevan hit a four on the last ball and win the match for the Aussies. Now i can surely say that it applies to my day to day life. There are some answered questions in life. For eg - how a person is successful or to put it simply how do you define success . Does being rich make you successful? Does being loved by everyone and having no money make you successful? or the last and perhaps the more important one Does a person really deserve if he gets everything? Well i have failed lot of times in my life and the only way i could get myself back was looking at others. Whenever i am sad, i just look at others and think i should consider myself fortunate that God has blessed me with eyes to see, ears to hear, legs to walk. There are so many in the world who are blind, deaf, lost their legs. I just want to say that believe in yourself and things will fall in place.for sure.

1 hour in Rickshaw

Yesterday i went to Deccan to bring my curtains from a shop. After getting those i put them in a auto rickshaw and we started the journey . Quiet a long one but i understood what people go through in their life. I started talk with the driver. i never asked his name and i am glad that i did not. He is driving auto for the last 30 years and he was so happy that he bought a second hand auto and was proudly telling me about that.It made me wonder about all the rich people that they earn so much and what makes them sad really.
He said he was bed-ridden for 2 years and could not do anything except lying on the bed. Even his father told him to go away as he was sitting idle and the family was suffering coz of him. Then he got well and started driving again. Now his father is ill and he is taking care of him . His father now sometimes cries and says that he is such a great son. It made me wonder whether my father will say like that.
He has 3 children and has grand plans for him . He wants his daughter to complete her graduation.
In spite of he still troubled by back ache , he still drives not for himself but for his family.

All i can say about him was he was happy with his life.

Shyamchi Aai by Sane guruji

this post is about a famous book written in marathi "Shyamchi aai" by Sane Guruji. it is mentioned at the end of the book that it is available in english as well as hindi. i would recommend all to read the book as it is worth every penny.
i had heard a lot about this story and i wanted to read it for a long long time finally on my wife's insistence i bought it for her . as she is busy most of the day managing our twin daughters i got a first hand to it. the language of the book is simple yet sweet and leaves a lasting impression on you. i think Guruji wrote it for kids. the book is a story of Guruji himself who learns so much about life from his mother. the author has divided each of the incident into a story and learnings from the particular incident.i can write about each chapter but i feel incapable to do justice to put the book into my words.i started a practice of reciting a chapter every day in front of my daughters as i dont want them to miss out on something that i should have learn long back.ultimately everyone wants their kids to be good human beings and believe me what better than shyamchi aai to teach them about the joy and sorrows of lifein the most simplest words that the kids can grasp.

Our Children , career and money

i thought of putting up my thoughts on this topic after meeting one of my ex-colleague's family at the hospital. As the title suggests i have put Children in upper case as per my view. Since we have twins, my wife had to sacrifice her career.True, we are not in the greatest of financial shapes, but i can safely that we are lot more happier than most people i know. I met one of my colleague's family and they have done the same. She quit her job for their child's sake.
She was so happy she said she wanted her son to be a good human being. The question here is who doesnt? but then y do people spend so less time with their kids . is money that important? is your career that important? i think everyone has a different perspective on this but just imagine the pain , now you are not giving enough time for your kids , how do you expect them to give you time when you grow old and they want to build their career? i m not asking to sacrifice their career but make sure that u spend some quality time with your family , how to manage this is an individual's problem,gn

Finally 2009 ended on a good note

Yes. i would say that , amongst all the resolutions i made , none of them was accomplished except one. As i had mentioned during last year that i would like to contribute something to the society , i am doing something.first things first , since this is my blog i am taking the liberty of posting this here , havent told this to many people not even my closed friends.
I thought about lot of things how i can contribute not only in terms of money but also time. But later i realized that being a family person it would be difficult to manage that, m still working on finding if i can do something meaningful on the weekends , lets see.
So i am sponsoring a child's education , i would be contributing 5k every year towards funding his books and food.I havent met him, i just want to be anonymous towards him. I feel if he becomes successful may be he can contribute and the cycle who knows will continue.
will post about one of the guy i met during my mumbai trip in my next entry.

JRD

Writing after a long time. Read a marathi book on JRD Tata.enjoyed it to the fullest.
JRD Tata was a Indian businessman famous for leading Tata empire for more than 40 years. He remains the only businessman till date to get Bharat Ratna.JRD's mother was french and he considered French as his first language. He introduced us to Aviation. Yes , Tatas were the first to start flights in India. Later on Govt of India took over. He brought several new business practices that kept the Tata flag flying high.
