JRD

Writing after a long time. Read a marathi book on JRD Tata.enjoyed it to the fullest.
JRD Tata was a Indian businessman famous for leading Tata empire for more than 40 years. He remains the only businessman till date to get Bharat Ratna.JRD's mother was french and he considered French as his first language. He introduced us to Aviation. Yes , Tatas were the first to start flights in India. Later on Govt of India took over. He brought several new business practices that kept the Tata flag flying high.

Am i old fashioned?

This weekend , i spent time listening to Vividhbharti (101.0) FM. I listened to FM after a long gap and that too Vividhbharti, it reminded me some years back when i used to listen it daily before sleep. Some thoughts crosses my mind. I was wondering most of my friends are hooked on to some other channels or mostly spend time on TV. My wife some times calls me old -fashioned as some of my habbits of keeping stuff unchanged for years kind of annoys her.

For eg - i have a CAMLIN compass which i got when i was in Class 2 and its still with me(yep almost 20 years) and i still use it to keep my pen, pencil , eraser and offcourse the sharpener.

Anyways ,i still feel that Vividhbharti is one of the best channels on Radio that you can listen to.
I just wondered what my daughters will say when they grow up and come on terms with my old-fashioned habbits.

Random thoughts

Again writing after a long gap , more than 3 months to be precise. Well celebrated my daughter's first birthday on April 8. Time flies fast. I am enjoying every moment of watching them grow.
Funny things i have observed in most of the blogs that i visited. people loose interest after a while. i guess same is the case with me. Dont expect too much from me on this blog. I will try my best to update.
I am pasting one nice quote which i read.
"There is some self-interest behind every friendship. There is no friendship without self-interests. This is a bitter truth"

Confession Time

I think all of those who read this are gonna kick my *** but anyways have heard that it takes brave souls to admit their faults so here i am. I started again , you know what i mean to smoke.Since this post is about confession , let me do one more thing.
I wrote in some of my earlier post that i am gonna write about the book "India 2020" by APJ Abdul kalam. Let me admit it frankly that i dont understand what he is trying to say. Not about the language but the concepts. These guys are visionary . They know so much about everything . If anyone thinks that he is intelligent and prides on self then go and read this book , it will bring you down on the ground.I am too simple to understand or dont have the capacity to think like this man. Too great and yet too simple.
Gotta sleep now.

How can people be so selfless

I am feeling different on writing this post guess it is due to the fact i am at lost of words
to express what i feel. There are few people in this world who can express what they feel.
Needs skill.
anyways i always have some thoughts in my mind about doing something that i feel good, really good about myself . Put simply , i think God creates each one of us with some objective . So everyone of us has some purpose in life. But with most of us it happens that we are lost in our daily routines so much that we hardly get time to serve our real purpose. If you ask me what is the purpose of my life . I am blank.
Recently came across this organisation People Science Institute . There is Dr. Ravi Chopra, an IITian who helped set it up along with his fellow like-minded friends. You can check the website for more details. Here is a guy who completed his graduation from one of the best institutes in the world then did his Phd from US, heads back to India and works for the rural folks. One thing that i have observed is IITians are different , most of them excel in whatever tasks they do . Dr. Chopra is no different , just check out the web site http://www.peoplesscienceinstitute.com to see what this organisation has done in terms of Research and Development. The question is Why is he doing it ?. He does not intend to be famous , he does not want people to know him. How can a person be so selfless. The answer is It makes him happy.Salute to him. When I do things , I always think what will I get out of it.
Need to add this in my resolutions for the year 2009. Do something which makes me feel happy about myself . Do it so that at the end of year, I have something to say to God that "yes i did...and felt great about it".

Prashant - So much to learn from him

The snap here captures Prashant and me . He is one of my good friend in Jalgaon.

We used to play together when we were kids , he was extremely fond of flying kites
and was expert in that. On that fateful day , he was flying and something went wrong
he got stuck with the electric pole and was unconscious for some time.
Somehow he was admitted to hospital, doctors indicated that the only way to save his life was to cut his hands and they did it.
Lots of things changed in his life drastically , he was dependent on others for almost all his activities. Later on he decided to fight against it . He studied hard and stood first amongst the disabled people from my town. He got scholarship and was sponsored for his further studies. He now teaches at one of the institutes and at the same time , he is a s/w developer , yep he is , he codes with his legs, writes with his legs and believe me , he is expert in chess , you have to play with him to appreciate his talent.
The greatest thing that he has done is inspire so many people who look up to him as a role model that you can achieve so much in life even if you dont have the means.who else can better demonstrate "where there is a will , there is a way". If you talk to him , you feel so good because he always talks positive , there is never a hint of sadness in his face , In a way, he mocks at you that look at me , i am living this life whole heartedly in spite of so many troubles and you people keep on worrying about things that are trivial. When i took my kid to him , he tried to touch her but... , i felt sad but he knows how to hide his sorrow.
I feel words are not enough to appreciate his achievement but in a way he teaches you to fight and win against all odds.

Tale of 2 contrasting views

Recently being alone and having lots of time , i decided to go to Parvati every day in the evening.Just wanted to post 2 snaps which i took when i went up the terrace at Parvati. For all those who havent been to Parvati , i suggest go and enjoy the place . There are some stairs and some effort needed to get to the top but its worth.
Heres the first one.

When i take a close look at this one , it seems that Pune is so developed , you see lots of huge buildings plus the city looks nice and green. I will cover more about "developed" in the later posts. Recently got a new book "India 2020" and it adds a new dimension to the word "developed".

Heres the second one(This one i took when i turned left slightly after the first one).

Heres is the irony. On one hand you see a city prospering with all its force , by it means people. and on the other hand you see people living in slums. Still you say the city is developed? I feel i am no one to comment on whether we are developed or not.But if we say that developed means having huge buildings and infrastructure then we are lacking in it.Guess we need a change.
